The highest success rate we offer on a standard route. Eight days gives the body time to adapt properly, with a Karanga rest night and a shorter, better rested summit push. The choice for anyone who has not been above 4,000m before.
Forest walk to Big Tree Camp at 2,780m, 3 to 4 hours.
Climb onto the Shira Plateau at 3,505m, 5 to 6 hours.
Plateau crossing to 3,850m with an afternoon acclimatisation walk to Shira Cathedral.
A quiet detour north to Moir Hut at 4,200m, with an afternoon climb towards Lent Hills at 4,600m and back down to sleep. Textbook acclimatisation.
Traverse to Lava Tower at 4,630m, then descend to Barranco at 3,960m.
Barranco Wall scramble and a short day to Karanga at 3,995m. Full afternoon rest.
Short move to Barafu at 4,673m, sleep from 19:00, then the midnight summit push to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m at sunrise. Descend to Mweka Camp.
Rainforest descent, certificates and transfer to Moshi.

If summiting matters to you, yes. The difference between 7 and 8 days is a modest supplement and around five percentage points of summit success. Compared with the cost of flying to Tanzania and not reaching the top, it is inexpensive insurance.
