The Machame Route with an extra night at Karanga Camp. That single night raises summit success from roughly 73 to 85 percent…

The classic Whiskey Route in its shortest form. Six days over dramatic terrain from rainforest to the Barranco Wall and the summit at Uhuru Peak, 5,895 metres. Fit trekkers only, as the acclimatisation is tight.
Registration at Machame Gate at 1,800m, then 11km of rainforest trail climbing to Machame Camp at 3,010m. Roughly 5 to 7 hours. Expect mud and, often, rain.
Out of the forest onto the moorland. 5km climbing steeply to the Shira Plateau at 3,845m, about 4 to 6 hours. First clear views of Kibo.
The critical acclimatisation day. Climb to Lava Tower at 4,630m for lunch, then descend to Barranco Camp at 3,960m. Climb high, sleep low. 10km, 6 to 8 hours.
Scramble the Barranco Wall at first light, cross the Karanga Valley and continue to Barafu base camp at 4,673m. 9km, 7 to 9 hours. Early dinner and sleep before midnight.
Wake at 23:30 and start for the summit by torchlight. Stella Point at 5,756m around sunrise, then the crater rim walk to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m. Descend to Barafu for a rest and continue to Mweka Camp at 3,100m. 17km total, 12 to 16 hours.
Final 10km descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, 3 to 4 hours. Summit certificates are issued at the gate, then transfer to your Moshi hotel for the first hot shower in six days.

Seven days if you can. The extra night at Karanga raises summit success from around 73 percent to roughly 85 percent for a modest supplement. Altitude, not fitness, is what turns most people back.
You need to walk 6 to 8 hours a day for six days at altitude. Three months of hill walking with a loaded pack, twice a week, is a realistic minimum. No technical climbing skill is needed.
An assistant guide descends with you immediately while the group continues. We carry oxygen and a pulse oximeter and check every trekker twice daily using the Lake Louise score. Serious cases evacuate by stretcher or helicopter under your insurance.
